Although Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have been together since 2003, and have successfully survived a long-distance relationship, pressures from a revealing movie (“The Social Network”), and the birth of their first child, how long can we expect the blissful newly-wed/honeymoon period to last? As importantly, how will their first-born daughter, Maxima, impact their relationship?
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan Make a “Good Enough” Couple
While both Mark and Priscilla have much in common, from a Lil' Matchmaker™ perspective, their relationship is “luke warm” at best. Perhaps because they have enough in common (like similar attractiveness, intelligence, health and fitness levels, and enjoyment of simple pleasures), keep very busy with their careers and philanthropic activities, have amiable personalities and have no prior serious relationships to compare against – they don’t notice that they may be missing a true “spark of love”. However, even without this intrinsic harmony, they will have a good enough time together and may enjoy a long-lasting marriage.
In analyzing their chi, I am reminded of a quote from Charlotte Lucas, a supporting character in Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”:
“I am not romantic, you know; I never was. I ask only a comfortable home; and considering Mr. Collins's character, connections, and situation in life, I am convinced that my chance of happiness with him is as fair as most people can boast on entering the marriage state." (Chapter 22)
Maxima Zuckerberg Will Need Support
The bigger worry in this family right now is Maxima Zuckerberg. Although she is still a newborn, Maxima’s character will not do well with Mark’s. Specifically, they may have a relationship involving injuries. Since Mark appears to be a good-natured person, it is unlikely that any injury he may inflict on Maxima will be physical. This leaves the possibility that he may inflict emotional, financial or some other type of injury. On the other hand, while Maxima may injure Mark, it is too soon to tell what firm this injury will take.
Unfortunately, the interaction between Priscilla and Maxima may be no better. Their character is in “opposition”; they do not see the world from the same perspective. As such, they may block each other from achieving their idea of happiness. It will take awhile before Maxima’s develops her personality but her teenage and adult years in this household will be a tougher struggle than for most.
Siblings for Maxima?
Hopefully, Mark and Priscilla will have additional children that can provide a buffer for Maxima. Alternatively, she may be able to seek refuge from her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins or close friends.
As importantly, if Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan want to do their best for each other and Maxima, perhaps they might consult with a reputable Feng Shui practitioner to select the best entrance, sleeping and studying location to reduce any potential for conflicts and injuries.
